Day 274 One-Year Daily Bible Reading – Isaiah 62:6–65:25; Philippians 2:19–3:3; Psalm 73:1-28; Proverbs 24:13-14
______
Ye that Make Mention of the LORD
I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
Isaiah 62:6-7
Mention the Lovingkindness of the LORD
I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
Isaiah 63:7
What He Hath Prepared for Him that Waiteth for Him
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
Isaiah 64:4
The Former Shall Not be Remembered
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
Isaiah 65:17
______
No Man Likeminded, Who Will Naturally Care for Your State
But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s. But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel. Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me. But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
Philippians 2:19-24
Paul is sending Timothy to the people to check on them because he had no one there that was like-minded as he and Timothy were; no one was concerned for their spiritual welfare. It wasn’t that he didn’t have people in the church, but those there were seeking to advance themselves and not Jesus and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
This caused me to pause and look at my own heart and life and ask – can those I sit under have confidence in my walk? Can they trust me to care for the spiritual state of the people we serve? Am I likeminded with them as Paul and Timothy we’re with each other? Am I more interested in advancing myself than I am advancing Jesus?
Show me Holy Ghost where I am failing. Would you please help me to line myself up with You and those You have placed me under that I might be a blessing and be found faithful? In Jesus Name, I ask. Amen! Amen!
Because for the Work of Christ He was Nigh Unto Death
Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants. For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation: because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
Philippians 2:25-30
Rejoice in the Lord
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
Philippians 3:1-3
______
There Shall be a Reward
My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; And the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: When thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, And thy expectation shall not be cut off.
Proverbs 24:13-14
______
Don’t Be Envious of the Prosperity of the Wicked
Truly God is good to Israel, Even to such as are of a clean heart. But as for me, my feet were almost gone; My steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Psalm 73:1-3
Don’t Be Despondant and Critical Over Your Lack of Prosperity
For there are no bands in their death: But their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men; Neither are they plagued like other men. Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; Violence covereth them as a garment. Their eyes stand out with fatness: They have more than heart could wish. They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: They speak loftily. They set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue walketh through the earth. Therefore his people return hither: And waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. And they say, How doth God know? And is there knowledge in the most High? Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
Psalm 73:4-12
Don’t Belittle God’s Blessings
Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
Psalm 73:13
Don’t Be Rebellious Against Your Lot in Life
For all the day long have I been plagued, And chastened every morning. If I say, I will speak thus; Behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children. When I thought to know this, It was too painful for me;”
Psalm 73:14-16
I Went Into the Sanctuary of God and Then Understood Their End
Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then understood I their end. Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: Thou castedst them down into destruction. How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. As a dream when one awaketh; So, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
Psalm 73:17-20
My Heart was Grieved at My Foolishness
Thus my heart was grieved, And I was pricked in my reins. So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: Thou hast holden me by my right hand.
Psalm 73:21-23
Whom Have I in Heaven but Thee?
Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, And afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: But God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: Thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all thy works.
Psalm 73:24-28
