2 Corinthians 1:1-2
As Ye are Partakers of the Sufferings, So Shall Ye Be Also of the Consolation
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

Consolation – comfort, solace, help
The more we suffer for Jesus Christ, the more grace and comfort Jesus Christ gives us. (They who suffer the offense of the Cross will also experience the comfort of the Cross). So then, whether we be afflicted or be comforted, it is for our good that we might then be a comfort and help to another that is suffering just as we were comforted and helped – in His name and for His glory.
We Had the Sentence of Death in Ourselves That We Should Not Trust in Ourselves
For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: but we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us; ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: Thereby good shall come unto thee. Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, And lay up his words in thine heart. If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, Thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles. Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, And the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, And thou shalt have plenty of silver. For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, And shalt lift up thy face unto God. Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, And thou shalt pay thy vows. Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: And the light shall shine upon thy ways.
